TUALATIN RIVER NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE & ADMINISTRATION BUILDING

CLIENT: US Fish & Wildlife

LOCATION: Sherwood, OR

BUILDING SF: 11,000

TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION: Concrete Tilt-up

WPC completed this $4M design/build Wildlife Refuge Center located at the northern end of the Willamette Valley near Sherwood, Oregon. The urban refuge was established to provide wetland, riparian, and upland habitats for a variety of migratory birds, and threatened and endangered species that frequent the area.

The Wildlife Center includes a viewing area to wetlands, multi-purpose room with theater-style seating, environmental education classrooms, and interpretive exhibits. The adjoining Administration Building provides offices for management staff. The facilities were constructed to meet LEED certification standards, incorporating durable and sustainable materials and methods that will serve the refuge well for many years to come.
