St. Paul Island, Alaska Seal Observation Facilities Project Named One of 2010's Best Construction Projects

WPC, which won for best renovation of a federal and heavy construction project, repaired a series of towers and walkways the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration uses to observe and count the seal population on St. Paul Island, Alaska. This project required replacing seven towers and 1,000 feet of walkways in the small window of time the seals migrate from the island. Despite average daily temperatures below zero, strong winds and frequent whiteout conditions, the WPC team completed the project with zero accidents and no loss time injuries.

WPC Wins Build Washington Award for Safety Excellence from the Associated General Contractors of Washington

WPC received a Safety Excellence award in the category of “General Contractor Under 150,000 Hours” from the Associated General Contractors of WA at their annual awards banquet on May 19, 2011. In 2010, WPC achieved an EMR of .60, the lowest possible rating for the number of reported worker hours. With industry safety measures placing us in the top two percent of all general contractors in Washington State, WPC ended the year with zero recordable accidents. These impressive numbers are due to the dedication of our management and field staff. WPC’s safety ethic is relentlessly promoted and repeated among all employees, and safety holds the first position in our corporate mission statement. WPC was also honored as Most Improved General Contractor at the awards banquet.
