Fairchild Air Force Base chose to save an existing 1950's building and renovate it to meet the specific needs of the Criminal Investigation Command, US Post Office, Fairchild Branch, and the Alternate Command Post to be utilized during exercises for states of emergency. Work for this $3.2 million project consisted of the relocation of the existing Post Office to the west portion of the first floor and displacing an existing laundromat. The vacated portion was renovated for other operations. Work also included replacement of the existing built-up roof with a pitched, architectural standing seam metal roof, and upgrade of existing exterior walls.
