DAVID L. STONE EDUCATION CENTER

CLIENT: Department of the Army, Seattle District COE

LOCATION: Fort Lewis, WA

BUILDING SF: 65,000

TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION: Combination Structural Steel Framing & CMU

WPC was selected as the Design/Build contractor through an intense competition of 11 firms for this two-story, 65,000 square foot education facility. The three wings off the central atrium house local colleges, administration offices, and shared classrooms. Innovative design and cost-effective systems were implemented providing an abundance of natural light. As a design/build contractor, WPC worked hand in hand with A/E team and the Education Center Director in seeing that the facility truly represented a learning environment. Since the facility housed university level studies, the design/build team felt it was imperative the facility represent a university style facility with the latest, state-of-the-art technology.

“When we wrote the RFP for the center, we had to envision the Education Center of the 21st Century, which had never been created. It was really quite remarkable, the extent to which you understood our needs and dreams. You have delivered a quality product, with outstanding management, excellent communications, and commitment to excellence.”
